“It’s not what you achieve, it’s what you overcome. That’s what defines your career.”

Getting your first job after completing college is a wonderful experience. You get to learn a lot of new things, a lot of knowledge about work, new people, etc.
Speaking of me, life has changed beyond what I imagined. Not only was this a massive change, but somewhat jarring as I joined my office shortly after my final year exams.
Since, my job was not offering a very attractive salary package, but there are a lot of things that changed due to your own hard-earned salary.
Here is the list which has both positive (more) and negative (less) sides: -

1. Financial Freedom:

Financial freedom means able to live a lifestyle of your choosing while responsibly managing your finances. Managing Finance is your main job after getting a real job. Having the cash on hand to cover an unexpected life event gives you peace of mind and is a critical part of your overall financial plan. Once you have that fully funded savings account, you’ll start to feel more flexibility in your budget. And yes, you’ll be able to say YES to shopping splurges with no guilt at all!

“A mind that is stretched by new experiences can never go back to its old dimensions.”

2. Becoming Punctual/Disciplined and Confident:

Being Punctual not only makes us independent but at the same time boosts our confidence level. I have indeed learnt that, yes, Time Management really plays a crucial role in the accomplishment of the goals(any goals), thus we should become punctual in life to fulfill all our dreams. It is important for a person to understand the worth of Time and its requirement in the achievement of the mission. You feel more confident than ever before after getting a job!!

“If you don’t value your time, neither will others. Stop giving away your time and talents — start charging for it.”

3. Travelling/ Maintaining a hobby sometimes become myth:

You think you have the money to visit fancy places often like clubs, restaurants and even on trips to some hill stations or maintaining a hobby like dancing, gyms, some cool sports etc etc… but your wallet wears out soon because of bad financial planning.

“Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.”

4. Compromising on Shopping:

At start, You will think that you are independent, now you don’t have to borrow money from anyone and even from your parents and that will give you sort of freedom to start shopping on your own. Since, I was passionate about electronics gadgets, so I bought those gadgets. I purchased my dream laptop and mobile with my own money. But soon, you will also realize that you have a fixed number of money every month and according to that you will make your expenses of every month so your shopping will keep on decreasing day by day.

“When you stop chasing the wrong things you give the right things a chance to catch you.”

5. Realize the value/importance of money:

When you understand the above mentioned things, you will understand the hard-work your parents did to raise you up,it will increase your respect towards them and you will become more responsible and will face the world which is very much different than you were into before getting job.

“The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.”

6. New goals and plans come into mind:

Six months or so into it and you are already planning to switch or upgrade your current job by secretly preparing for another.

“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”

7. Real friends become less:

After becoming independent and mature, You will realize that you don’t have time for forced fake catch-ups or pointless conversations. You have already worked out who your real friends are so you don’t feel the need to have any new ones. Also, You are aware of who’s curious and who’s concerned. However, there are few that take you seriously and know how unique you are. These people are the ones you have time for and make effort with.

“There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart. Pursue these.”

8. Matured, organized and responsible:

Sometimes, you feel like parents to your own parents when you shower them with gifts and financial help. This feeling really cannot be expressed in words.

“Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.”

9. Self-Satisfaction:

Most importantly, No matter how weird it gets at job or in personal life, you are always grateful on the salary day that at least You Have a Job that pays!

“Always Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.”
